Permanent Resident

(Indefinite)

 
 
"Permanent Resident" or "Special Permanent Resident" (hereinafter referred to as "permanent or special permanent resident") and those born as children of a permanent or special permanent resident in Japan who have been residing in Japan.
 
The Condition for Permanent Residence.
1. Working visa holder:
 
An applicant who has been staying more than 10 years, of which working more than five years in Japan.
 
2. Spouse visa holder (and Long Term holder has married with Japanese or Permanent):
 
An applicant who has been living with the spouse more than three years stable life in Japan.
 
3. Child of permanent resident and second generation Japanese:
 
An applicant who has been staying more than 1 year in Japan.
 
4. Regarding the point score of the Highly skilled foreign professional.
 
A. The person has a total score of 70 points or more based on the points calculation criteria prescribed in the Ordinance to Provide for the Criteria in the Right-Hand Column Corresponding to “Highly-Skilled Professionals as Specified in Appended Table I(2) of the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act” (hereinafter referred to as “Ordinance of the Ministry of Justice”), and comes under one of the following.
 
①. The person who has continuously stayed in Japan as a “Highly-Skilled foreign Professional” for 3 years or more.
 
②. The person who has continuously stayed in Japan for 3 years or more, and who is deemed to have a total of 70 points or more when calculating with reference to the situation at 3 years before the date of the application for permission for permanent residence.
 
B. The person has a total score of 80 points or more based on the points calculation criteria prescribed in the “Ordinance of the Ministry of Justice” , and comes under one of the following.
 
①. The person who has continuously stayed in Japan as a “Highly-Skilled foreign Professional” for 1 year or more.
 
②. The person who has continuously stayed in Japan for 1 year or more, and who is deemed to have a total of 80 points or more when calculating with reference to the situation at 1 year before the date of the application for permission for permanent residence.
 
 
5. Long Term visa holder:( in case of no marriage to Japanese or permanent holder.)
 
An applicant who has stayed in Japan for more than 5 years consecutively with the status of long term resident.
 
6. The person recognaized Refugee.
 
The person has been recognized as a refugee, and has stayed in Japan for more than 5 years consecutively after recognition.

Long Term Resident

(6 months, 1 year, 3 years or 5 years or a period not exceeding 5 year determined by the Minister of Justice for the foreign national concerned)

 
 
Those who are authorized to reside in Japan with a period of stay designated by the Minister of Justice inconsideration of special circumstances.
