What is the J-Skip Visa?

From April 2023, a special highly-skilled personnel system (J-Skip) will be introduced. Separately from the point-based system for highly-skilled personnel, those who have a certain level of academic background or work experience and an annual income above a certain level will be classified as "Highly-Skilled Professional No. 1." status of residence, and further expanded preferential treatment as a “specially highly skilled human resource”.
 

Applicants must meet the criteria stipulated in the ministerial ordinance that stipulates standards for highly skilled foreign professionals.

(1) Those who meet one of the following conditions.
 
In the case of “Highly Skilled Professional No. 1 A("Advanced academic research")” and “Highly Skilled Professional No. 1 B("Advanced specialized / technical activity")
 
 
Persons with a master's degree or higher and an annual income of 20 million yen or more.
 
Or
 
Those who have more than 10 years of practical experience related to the business they are going to engage in and whose annual income is more than 20 million yen
 
In the case of “Highly Skilled Professional No. 1 C(Advanced business management activity)”
 
People with more than 5 years of practical experience in business management or management and an annual income of 40 million yen or more.
 
 
Even if you don't have 80 points in the Highly Skilled Professional point system, if you have an annual income of 20 million yen or more and have a master's degree certificate, you will be granted permanent residence by living and working in Japan only 1 year.
